Ask a marketing team in Riyadh where their customers spend time, and you’ll hear “Snapchat” before you finish the question. Ask an agency outside the region to plan a Saudi campaign, and Snapchat is often an afterthought behind Instagram and TikTok.
The numbers say that’s a mistake. Snap has said it reaches about 90% of 13–34 year olds in Saudi Arabia. Its general manager for the Kingdom has said monthly active users passed 25 million, and later reports put it above 26 million. Platform data compiled by DataReportal puts Snapchat’s Saudi ad reach at roughly 25 million — close to nine in ten adults. Arab News has reported Snap’s claim that users open the app more than 50 times a day on average.
For any business selling to Saudi consumers — and for UAE businesses with Saudi customers — Snapchat isn’t optional. Here’s how to use it well.
Ad reach and monthly active users are platform-reported figures; ad reach counts reachable accounts, not unique people. They’re useful for comparing scale, not as an exact census.
Why Snapchat works differently
- It’s a camera and messaging app first. People open it to talk to friends, not to browse brands. Ads that feel like a friend’s snap fit; ads that feel like a billboard don’t.
- It’s full-screen and vertical. You own the whole screen for a moment — use it.
- Sound and faces matter. A real person speaking to camera in Saudi dialect often beats a polished animation.
- It’s fast. You have about a second to earn attention.
Choose your objective
| Goal | Snapchat approach | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Get enquiries | Lead generation objective with an in-app lead form | Services, clinics, real estate, education, automotive |
| Drive website visits or sales | Traffic or conversion objective to a landing page or store | E-commerce, bookings |
| Get known in a new city | Awareness with reach-focused buying | New branches, launches, events |
| App installs | App install objective | Apps and delivery platforms |
Snapchat’s lead form can be pre-filled with details from the user’s profile, so they can submit without leaving the app — the same trade-off as Meta’s Instant Forms: more leads, lower intent. Add a qualifying question, and call quickly. (See forms vs landing pages.)
Creative that works on Snapchat in Saudi
- Hook in the first second: a face, a question, a surprising visual. “Still paying full price for [X]?”
- Saudi Arabic voice-over or on-screen text. Saudi dialect feels local; avoid stiff formal Arabic in casual ads. (See Gulf Arabic vs MSA.)
- Show, don’t tell: the product in hand, the service happening, the result.
- Captions on for viewers watching without sound.
- One clear action: swipe up, fill the form, visit.
- Make 3–5 versions and let performance pick. Rotate creative often — fatigue is fast on a high-frequency app.
A 15-second script template
2–8s: Technician at work, quick cuts — “Full service in under an hour, anywhere in Riyadh.”
8–12s: Offer on screen — “Book this week: [offer].”
12–15s: CTA — “Tap to book — we’ll call you within minutes.”
Targeting basics
- Location: city or radius around your branches. Saudi is big; Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province behave differently.
- Age: start broader than you think — reach extends well beyond teens.
- Language: create Arabic and English ad sets separately and compare.
- Lookalikes and retargeting: once you have customers and site visitors, use them.
Timing: the Saudi calendar
Ramadan, the two Eids, Saudi National Day (23 September), Founding Day (22 February) and the summer travel season all shift behaviour and ad prices. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027 — plan creative early. See the Ramadan 2027 marketing plan.
From lead to customer
Snapchat leads are impulsive by nature — which makes speed critical. Acknowledge instantly, call within minutes, and follow up over WhatsApp or phone. Research on online leads found contacting within the first hour made companies about seven times more likely to qualify a lead. (The 5-minute rule.)
